How to Use Senate of AIs™

Open the Connections page and connect a key once per provider — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, xAI Grok, Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, or Cohere. One connected provider can power many senators.

• Free tiers are marked with a green badge; paid-only models show amber.
• Keys are encrypted and stored under your account — we never share them.
• Removing a key silences any senator using it — nothing else breaks.

On the Senators page, pick a Powered by provider and a Model for each seat. Two senators can share a provider but run different models. Unassigned seats stay Silent.

• You need at least two senators assigned before you can convene.
• Mix free-tier and premium models to balance cost and depth.
• Set a Chief Senator here — they'll compile the Senate's draft opinion.

Open a new deliberation, give it a clear title, and pose the question you need help with. Choose who the Senate acts as — Advisors, Experts, or Content Creators — and what they should produce: a briefing note, business case, grant proposal, policy brief, project plan, speech, press release, and more. You can type your question, dictate it with voice-to-text, and upload documents for the Senate to work from.

• Use a specific, decision-oriented question for sharper advice.
• Add your key assumptions and leadership context — the Senate treats them as binding.
• Attach PDF, Word, PowerPoint (.pptx), spreadsheets (.xlsx, .xls, .csv), text or Markdown files, and images (PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF). Spreadsheets are read row by row.
• A file whose text cannot be read, such as a scanned PDF, is still stored with the session and marked Stored, not read — never rejected.
• Save a set-up you use often as a Template to pre-fill future sessions.

Open the session and check the Roll call card first: it tests each senator's model and marks every seat Ready, Not responding, Silent or Locked, with a plain-language reason and a link to fix it. Then click Begin Deliberation. With research turned on, the Senate first searches the open web, academic and think-tank sources, and public-opinion repositories, and gathers the findings into a shared Evidence Pack. Every senator receives the same pack, so citations are consistent and verifiable. Senators then debate in rounds rather than speaking once, and your chosen Chief Senator synthesises the chamber, your uploaded materials, the Evidence Pack, and the full debate into a single draft Opinion of the Senate.

• Roll call runs automatically when you open a session; press Re-check after fixing a seat. Deliberation stays disabled until at least two senators are ready, so no run is wasted.
• Review the Evidence Pack before or during deliberation — you can dismiss any item you do not want the Senate to rely on.
• Research is a Pro feature; without it, senators cite from their own training knowledge and mark those sources as unverified.
• Every assigned senator takes part by default — all seven can run on free models, on paid subscriptions, or on any mix of the two.
• Free Test Mode is optional: tick it to run a smaller quorum of 2 to 7 seats if a free provider's per-minute limit is getting in the way.
• After each run, a participation report shows who took part, who sat out and why — quota, locked seat, or model error — with actions to fix and re-run.
• Read each senator's stance, and their sources, before jumping to the Chief's draft.
• The Chief is a single lens, not a replacement for the full Senate.

The session pauses at Awaiting Review so you can read the Chief's draft, request edits, or edit it yourself. When you approve it you sign off as the human decision-maker and the Senate votes. Senators keep deliberating across rounds until a majority forms. If the chamber ties, the session waits for you: you cast the deciding vote, or delegate it to the Chief Senator.

• Request edits as many times as needed — every draft is kept in Version History.
• Compare drafts side-by-side before you approve.
• A tie is normal on genuinely hard questions — that is when your casting vote matters most.

Deliberation rarely happens with all the facts on the table. Use Add to record to submit a new note or attach a document — including images — after the Senate has begun. Anything you add becomes binding instructions for the next redraft, and the Chief must state what changed because of it.

• Add corrections, late data, or a stakeholder's response as it arrives — as a written note or a file attachment.
• Then ask for a redraft — additions are only applied on the next pass.
• Items stay listed as unaddressed until a redraft has taken them up.

If you uploaded a Word document, the Senate's recommendations can be applied straight back into it as tracked changes. Download the redlined file and accept or reject each edit in Word exactly as you would a colleague's review.

• Each proposed change carries the reasoning behind it.
• Your original file is never overwritten — you get a separate redlined copy.
• Compare the redline against the Opinion to see how advice became wording.

Export the Opinion, version history, and session metadata as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF, or Markdown for your own files, meetings, or compliance records.

• Clear any items on the export readiness checklist first.
• Export the full version history or only the final draft.
• Every export includes the human-judgment disclaimer.
